Mimar is providing architectural and engineering design services to support the University in the rehabilitation, renovations of its existing facilities and new construction campus wide, which includes classrooms, auditoriums, research facilities, and administrative spaces. The scope of services for this contract include roof design, structural assessment and design, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering, code compliance and construction cost estimating. Mimar provided the design services for several facilities under an NTE budget and each facility was completed on a turn-key schedule. Under this contract Mimar has completed the following project:

Building 32/42 SEAS (School of Engineering and Applied Science)

The University of the District of Columbia desires to procure the services of an Architectural / Engineering firm to develop an Architectural Program and design an Interior Spatial Layout for the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) in buildings #32 and #42. The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) is comprised of essentially two buildings, with one built as an attachment to the original building. The portion of the building considered as building #32 is 58,754 SF, and building #42 is 78,983 SF.

Mimar provided architectural, space planning and interior design services to develop an Architectural program and design an interior spatial layout for the 137,737 SF Engineering and Applied Science building. The project required thorough survey of all SEAS current and future academic and administrative functions and logically locate all those functions into buildings 32/42.

Mimar developed a Programming document that describes each space and how each space will be used and include graphic depictions of the interior layout of both buildings (including some interior perspective drawings). The floor plan layout identifies the most efficient use of all spaces to accommodate all the School's academic and administrative requirements, while minimizing the costs to construct the spaces as programmed. Mimar evaluated the existing mechanical systems and developed a program that will permit the re-use of as much of the existing mechanical systems as practical and indicated where mechanical system changes or upgrades were needed. The program also had to account for appropriate ventilation and exhaust for all the laboratory spaces.
