The URS Corporation and Mimar Architects and Engineers, Inc. (Mimar) partnered to design and administer construction for the renovation of 47,000 sf at 991 Corporate Boulevard, Linthicum Heights, Maryland, the headquarters of the Maryland Aviation Authority. We visited the site and assessed the existing building conditions, poured over the existing structure’s record drawings, measured critical elements, and produced a re-design of the office floors, laying out new workstations, enclosed offices, and support room.
Mimar provided architectural drawings and project manual sections, and cost estimating services. Mimar supplied schematic, design development, and construction contract documents. It responded to client comments at critical review stages. It attended Anne Arundel County permitting work sessions, a pre-bid meeting, and assisted in bidding and negotiation, and issued a conformed document set that complied with MAA regulations. Construction administration tasks for us were to be to review general contractor product submittals, including shop drawings for custom-fabricated components, and to respond to contractor Requests for Information. MAE was documented the work for three construction phases, each arranged to permit ongoing MAA administrative operations. The three phases encompassed nine office suites, and expansion of the common employee break room, with its kitchen and vending components. Mimar’s designs and documentation dealt with architectural, mechanical, information technology, and fire-protection modifications.
